Three articles, released once a week, beginning Thursday 16th September, right here on Byta\u2019s blog.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Byta has commissioned music journalist <strong>Shawn Reynaldo<\/strong> <em>(<a href=\"https:\/\/firstfloor.substack.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">First Floor<\/a>, Pitchfork, Resident Advisor, SPIN, DJ Mag, NPR)<\/em> to look into three issues in the music ecosystem that we thought needed some attention:\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/byta.com\/blog\/insights\/digital-blues-the-challenges-of-music-sharing-metadata\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Music metadata<\/a><\/strong><\/li><li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/byta.com\/blog\/insights\/digital-blues-the-challenges-of-music-sharing-sending\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Music sending<\/a><\/strong><\/li><li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/byta.com\/blog\/insights\/digital-blues-the-day-to-day-challenges-of-music-sharing-storage\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Music storage<\/a><\/strong><\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>Speaking to a variety of music professionals while researching and exploring best practices when it comes to working with audio files, Shawn has put together a three-part series, <strong><em>Digital Blues: The Day-to-Day Challenges of Music Sharing<\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here\u2019s a brief summary of what\u2019s inside:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Digital Blues: The Day-to-Day Challenges of Music Sharing<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Part I: Metadata<\/em><\/strong> &#8211; those in the know, know. Metadata is important.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-pullquote\"><blockquote><p><em>\u201c&#8230; and while it\u2019s not exactly the sexiest topic\u2014after all, we\u2019re literally talking about making sure that song files are labeled properly and have complete and accurate credits\u2014its capacity to foul things up is practically immeasurable\u2026\u201d  <\/em><\/p><\/blockquote><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Part II: Sending Music &#8211;&nbsp; <\/em><\/strong>there are seemingly countless options for delivering audio files, and they\u2019re anything but identical.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-pullquote\"><blockquote><p><em>\u201cMost music professionals have their own preferences when it comes to sending and receiving files, but the landscape is so varied that fluency in multiple platforms has become a mandatory aspect of the job.\u201d&nbsp;<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Part III: Storing Music &#8211; <\/em><\/strong><em>Storage <\/em>remains extremely important and very complicated even in a world dominated by streaming.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-pullquote\"><blockquote><p><em>\u201c&#8230;I do a separate iTunes library for each of my shows so I can build playlists,\u201d she explains. \u201cSomebody else recommended it to me and I was like, \u2018You are crazy! How could that be an efficient system?\u2019 &#8230;It does take up a lot of storage space though.\u201d<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Our <strong>State of Music Sharing survey<\/strong> was circulated globally for four weeks in June and July.
