Where are you based?

Seattle, WA.

Where do you work? What do you do?

I work in the Publicity, International and A&R departments for Sub Pop. Alongside my co-worker in the publicity department, I handle national and regional press campaigns for our artists.

I also oversee international marketing for the label in Canada, Mexico and LATAM, Australia, New Zealand, Japan and Israel as well as working in the A&R department. As you can tell, I enjoy wearing a variety of tiny hats.

What are you listening to?

Some new things that I have been digging on lately are: Hiding Places, Cola, Rosali, Lifeguard, Vanishing Twin, Winged Wheel.

How do you discover new music?

Music discovery for me is a mix of word of mouth (friends and record store recommendations), magazines/online websites like Pitchfork, Stereogum, Wire, Aquarium Drunkard and DSPs. Most of my music discovery these days comes from Bandcamp.

What formats do you usually listen to? LP, CD, Cassette, Digital, Streaming Services? Why?

While my husband and I own thousands of LPs most of my listening these days is digitally through Spotify/Sonos. I’ve been known to bust out a tape or CD too though.

“If I have anything in this world it’s a gift of gab. I love finding out what my friends are listening to and in return share what I’ve been jamming on.”

Where do you do most of your music listening?

It really depends on the day but I mostly listen to music while I’m working and driving. I try to play “my” music in between listening to what my 3 year old wants to listen to but that only works half the time. I can however proudly say that I know all the words to the songs from Moana, Frozen, Muppet Babies and Vamparina. It does warm my heart though that my daughter can sing along to “Coconut” by Harry Nilsen.

How do you find and listen to pre-release music?

Mostly via streams on blogs and through protected album streams that my kind friends at other record labels send me.

What are your frustrations with listening to music digitally? Any benefits?

I hate ADs but love having access to almost any song/album I want to listen to via streaming platforms.

How do you keep track of everything you are listening to?

Bookmarking tabs, favoriting tracks/albums on Spotify and a “to-listen-to list” that is probably way to long than it should be.

Do you tip other people off to new music? How?

If I have anything in this world it’s a gift of gab. I love finding out what my friends are listening to and in return share what I’ve been jamming on.
