I’m the Founding Partner & Co-host of FutureSound & ‘The Future is Sound’ annual summit. I am fascinated by sound & music's potential to transform the human experience.

FutureSound is a global platform that reimagines how the world views music beyond just entertainment and our grand vision is to transform the lives of billions globally using the power of sound.

A truly global and multidisciplinary community - our mission is to champion new ways in which sound and music can enrich, enhance, inspire and improve the lives of millions globally.

Where are you based?

I am based in London, UK.

Where do you work? What do you do?

I am the Founding Partner & Co-Host of FutureSound. We are a global platform that reimagines how the world views music beyond just entertainment. Our grand vision is to transform the lives of billions globally using the power of sound.

I truly believe that Sound [music included] is one of the most powerful, natural organic technologies on the planet.

We support some of the world’s most influential creators, leaders & pioneers through our live events, deep listening experiences, educational initiatives & soon to be launched private retreats. They are pushing the boundaries of the transformational power of sound & music.

What are you listening to?

I’m currently listening to the sonic alchemist that is Goldcap & his weekly show on SoundCloud‘The Goldcast’. He is an amazing curator of quality electronic dance music. He showcases amazing DJ talent from all corners of the globe. I discover so many amazing DJs and producers here that previously were not on my radar.

How do you discover new music?

Most of the new music I discover nowadays is usually when I hear a DJ play a good track… There is so much good music out there right now (Shazam gets used a lot too!) Digitally Beatport, Bandcamp & socials & I often check out new releases via labels I follow also. YouTube’s recommendation engine amazing too & I feel it’s not often spoken about enough. I still buy vinyl occasionally and often frequent Soho in London to check out record shops. I have been doing this since I was 13 years old although there is now only a handful left.

What formats do you usually listen to? LP, CD, Cassette, Digital, Streaming Services? Why?

My purchases are almost all digital & some Vinyl. As for streaming services, I’m more of a SoundCloud/Mixcloud guy than Spotify. I like Youtube too for the combined visual element and rawness of what you can discover.

Where do you do most of your music listening?

I have music playing all the time! Headphones are on when I first wake up, when I’m working, running, walking, travelling, and soundscapes when I’m meditating. I have a full DJ set up in my home – both vinyl turntables and digital.

What are your frustrations with listening to music digitally? Any benefits?

‘MP3’s are an insult to our ears’ is a famous quote by Tony Andrews, founder of Funktion One who was a keynote speaker at our first ‘The Future is Sound Summit’. I totally agree – nothing beats good quality audio whether it be analogue or digital. However, being able to play any track I want anytime, anywhere at my fingertips has its advantages. I grew up with only cassettes vinyl & CDs. As such I can fully appreciate how far we have come in the last 30 years!

How do you keep track of everything you are listening to?

The usual – playlists, favourites and arranged folders/genres for DJ’ing – I listen to a LOT of music & it often gets lost!

Do you tip other people off to new music? How?

My advice would be to explore new music, up-and-coming artists, DJs & music events and stay off the beaten track. We are incredibly lucky to now live in a world that allows us to tap into music ecosystems and communities anywhere in the world with such ease – yet many people do not actively do this and are missing out on some incredible music discovery.
