Work at home for now – work on marketing for CD Baby<\/a> in Canada while also running online conferences and events for Indie Week<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What are you listening to?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Lately podcasts on marketing and social media and one for just humour is SmartLess<\/a>. For music, I\u2019ve been listening to full albums and usually from artists I listened to in my younger years or classic acts that I wouldn\u2019t have known about. Blues, Jazz, Country, Rock\u2026. A bit of everything.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How do you discover new music?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Truthfully a lot is sent to me because of my position. I keep an eye out for new releases coming out through CD Baby that stand out. Also with Indie Week, I participate in numerous conferences and festivals – during normal times that includes live showcases.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What formats do you usually listen to? LP, CD, Cassette, Digital, Streaming Services? Why?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Digital only – just because of the ease of use – I did listen to CDs at the start of the pandemic but it was to go through my collection and figure out what is on streaming platforms so I could get rid of the CD.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Where do you do most of your music listening?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Work, home and anytime I\u2019m in the car. I use Google Nest, Alexa and Siri along with Sonos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How do you find and listen to pre-release music?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Also because of my work, links are often being sent to me which takes up my time for any new release music coming out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What are your frustrations with listening to music digitally? Any benefits?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Too many links in messaging! The worst is getting a random message from someone you don\u2019t know with a ton of links. I just hit delete. One thing that can be frustrating is that on some of the streaming services albums might be missing a track from the original release. (usually due to disputes in copyright and ownership).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How do you keep track of everything you are listening to?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

I save it to a personal digital playlist.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Do you tip other people off to new music? How?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Yes either through social media, messaging, or if I am being interviewed on a podcast I will try to mention a band or two.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Anything you want to \u201cpromote\u201d?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Yes, the online conferences we produce can be found at indieweek.com<\/a> and by following IndieWeek on social media. Each week we have a FREE online discussion with music industry reps every TUESDAY at 4 pm est called Indie Weekly. We have a lot more in the works so there will be more announcements coming.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
