I book tours for independent and experimental artists that appeal to emerging audiences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n claire rousay, Joseph Shabason, Penya & R\u1eafn C\u1ea1p \u0110u\u00f4i<\/p>\n\n\n\n I guess a large proportion is shared with me by colleagues at Phantom Limb, but I do definitely get maybe 25% from stumbling on stuff via social networks, and maybe a proportion by simply reading through the press, Pitchfork, Bandcamp weekly, newsletters etc and mixes etc\u2026 every now and then by accidentally seeing someone live…<\/p>\n\n\n\n I have loads of CDs but don\u2019t really listen to them. Same with tapes really\u2026 I listen mostly to downloads of stuff I am sent, or streams off BandCamp. I consciously don\u2019t listen to anything on Spotify\u2026 I buy vinyl, I buy T shirts, I get free DLs from artists I work with and label promos, I have friends that send me distro lists, I get lost on YouTube and SoundCloud<\/a>, I follow links from people, stumble on YouTube\u2026 it goes on…<\/p>\n\n\n\n Just \u2018everywhere\u2019 – at home yes, on headphones yes, in the car yes, in front of the computer while working etc..!<\/p>\n\n\n\n I only really know I am listening to pre-release stuff when it is sent to me before it is released. I guess I do hear things pre-release sometimes on blogs etc, but I don\u2019t necessarily know that is the case at the time!<\/p>\n\n\n\n I will do all of the stuff to hear things, but I am a little hesitant to download<\/a> stuff unless it\u2019s from someone I know and trust\u2026 or I have arranged to receive that already\u2026 mostly it\u2019s easiest and best for everyone (I think) if it\u2019s hosted on SoundCloud<\/a> with a bio so I can share it if I want (with close allies etc – never publicly obviously)<\/p>\n\n\n\n “I am a little hesitant to download stuff unless it\u2019s from someone I know and trust\u2026 or I have arranged to receive that already”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n …I literally just remember stuff I like! <\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n Yes, I share with colleagues – like word of mouth basically. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Yes there\u2019s loads\u2026 Ichiko Aoba<\/a> is playing in Southampton which is a really exciting show as not much unknown rising international stuff comes through town and plays in nice venues like MAST\u2026 Gwenifer Raymond<\/a> is also on that bill so it\u2019s a pretty ambitious lineup but basically will sell out so that\u2019s been a really cool thing to pull together\u2026 20 tix left at this moment\u2026 remaining ones here<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n I love the recent acts I\u2019ve been booking, claire<\/a> as previously mentioned, Matchess<\/a>, BLK JKS<\/a>, the recent stuff on Orange Milk<\/a> is super exciting\u2026 many live streams in the experimental sphere have been really good\u2026 it\u2019s tricky remembering EVERYTHING haha…<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":4,"template":"","tags":[],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"\nWhat are you listening to?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n
