Where do you work? What do you do?<\/strong><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

I work with Tasck Creative Company and I function as the General Manager for Incredible Music which is the Talent vertical of the company. My role requires me to be in charge of all aspects of recorded music so this means from the creation of the music to the release.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What are you listening to?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Afrobeats & Nigerian Rap music. It\u2019s very easy to get lost in the pool of Afrobeats<\/a> because Nigeria is the hub and so much music comes out in a day it\u2019s almost impossible to catch up; but I always take time to listen to some quality rap music which I\u2019m hoping will become as popular as our Afrobeats because we have such incredible talents doing great rap music in Nigeria.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How do you discover new music?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

I discover music on TikTok, Spotify playlists & in movies. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

TikTok as we all know is now taking the top seat as a hub for artist discovery so it\u2019s easy to catch on to new music & releases on the platform. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Spotify\u2019s algorithm is amazing for sourcing new music. Once they know what you love, they bring it to you. I especially appreciate the Playlists that the platform makes for me because a lot of times it\u2019s a beautiful mix of music from all parts of the world. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Movies, I love watching movies. As we know in the world of music, synchronization (sync<\/a>) licenses are huge for music acts especially when it\u2019s a big production. That\u2019s literally how Lizzo became mainstream after so many years of grinding so yeah I keep my Shazam on standby to cop new music from movies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What formats do you usually listen to? LP, CD, Cassette, Digital, Streaming Services? Why?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Streaming services. We have access to Apple Music, Spotify, Tidal, Boomplay<\/a>, Audiomack etc and so it\u2019s easy to access music. I frankly don\u2019t remember the last time I saw a CD player (lol), I would however love to own a collection of vinyls & a nice wooden vinyl player too.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Where do you do most of your music listening?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

I listen to music all the time actually. We have 4 speakers at home placed at different parts of the house so it\u2019s easy to connect and listen to something when you\u2019re working or reading etc. During commutes, no matter the distance, I have my AirPods on listening to music.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How do you find and listen to pre-release music?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Most times the music is sent to me to listen to for one reason or the other. It\u2019s part of the work I do so sometimes people send music to me to get honest feedback.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What are your frustrations with listening to music digitally? Any benefits?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

I don\u2019t really have frustrations to be honest except the quantity of emails but those can be easily ignored.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How do you keep track of everything you are listening to?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

I add to a playlist, create a new playlist, like, save or download.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Yes I do\u2026 I share from Spotify to my IG stories & I also sometimes send links on WhatsApp if the music is that good and I need you to take a listen for us to chat about it later.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Let me put you on to Africa\u2019s No1 rapper – M.I Abaga<\/a>. He\u2019s been in the business for over 10 years. His last body of work called \u201cA Study on Self Worth<\/a>: Yxng Dxnzl” (released in 2018) is a master piece that takes a deep dive into mental health & self actualization.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

His last single has the new drill sound that we all know and love. It\u2019s called \u201cThe Guy\u201d:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
