I\u2019ve been working for 5 years as a Communications Manager<\/strong> at Groover<\/strong>, a platform<\/a> that allows artists to promote their music.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What are you listening to?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

With my job at Groover, I get to listen to a lot of independent artists, and I’ve become addicted to it! <\/strong>I always loop the latest musical gem I find until I discover another one\u2026 Currently: Mercure – Olivier Faubert & tha\u00efs<\/strong><\/a> \ud83d\ude42 I’m very open to many styles, but I’m constantly seeking out melodies that really touch me: Patrick Watson, C. Tangana, Peter Cat Recording Co, Ben B\u00f6hmer\u2026<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

How do you discover new music?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

  1. Thanks to Spotify: <\/strong>I have a routine of listening to the ‘Discover Weekly’ <\/em>playlist every Monday and ‘Release Radar’<\/em> every Friday. The combo is a goldmine!<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. At my job:<\/strong> Many tracks are sent through Groover, allowing me to discover new artists daily across all styles! Especially when I’m curating the <\/strong>Groover Radio<\/strong><\/a> <\/strong>playlist.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  3. Concerts\/festivals:<\/strong> The best of the best! What a pleasure to find myself in the crowd for an artist I don’t know, and they captivate me from start to finish. I’ve recently moved to Montreal and am discovering the Quebec scene: it’s crazy!<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  4. Not to forget: my friends!<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    What formats do you usually listen to? LP, CD, Cassette, Digital, Streaming Services? Why?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

    I listen to music every day, mainly through streaming! I enjoy the freedom of being able to listen to music wherever and whenever I want. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

    I like to buy vinyl records when I’m a big fan of an artist and also to support the independent artists I know. But I admit it’s more for the support and not for listening: I’m lazy, and I prefer streaming, which is more instantaneous.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Where do you do most of your music listening?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

    I listen to music every day at different times, most often with my AirPods. It can be while walking to work, while working to motivate me on a task, while running on my treadmill, in my car, etc.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    How do you find and listen to pre-release music?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

    On Groover, we receive a lot of tracks in preview! Artists love getting early feedback from music professionals, and music curators love getting exclusives. On my side, I can see the artists who are receiving the best feedback and we’ve created a playlist to highlight them: it’s called the HOT 10 Groover<\/a>!     What are your frustrations with listening to music digitally? Any benefits?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

    We have so many opportunities to quickly listen to lots of songs\/playlists that sometimes I feel like I’m getting bored and not discovering anything new. It’s probably related to the fact that I listen to music very often while doing other things. It’s important not to forget to set aside dedicated moments to just listen to music. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

    But the positive side of the digital era is giving anyone a chance to make it! It’s amazing to think that you can compose a track in your room, share it, have your friends share it, and make it go viral on social media! <\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Moreover, it’s really cool to be able to listen to any song from any year, by any artist, with just a few clicks, we’re really lucky!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    How do you keep track of everything you are listening to?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

    Playlists all the way!! Since 2011, I’ve been creating a playlist each year with all my discoveries. I love immersing myself in each year by listening to the tracks. Every year has its own mood, its discoveries, and I love diving back into them to reminisce and recall memories.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    I like to play my playlists in the background when I’m with my friends!
