Sharing – Direct Links
Last modified on January 12th, 2023 at 4:34 am
Direct links allow you to send your audio files to specific email addresses. The number of recipients varies depending on your plan. If the recipient is already a user they will receive the audio directly into their Activity page. Recipients of Direct Links, who do not have Byta accounts will be sent a URL that is unique to them. Note that these URLs can still be shared.
Once you have followed the step of uploading audio (read more here) you can now choose which type of share you wish to send out.
Setting Restrictions
Choosing Direct Links as a share type allows you the most comprehensive set of Restrictions as they are associated with specific users. For the most secure form of Direct Link, we recommend choosing “require account” to ensure recipients can only listen if they have signed into their Byta account.
Read more about Share Restrictions.
Adding Contacts
On Free plans, Senders can add up to 5 contacts to each share. Solo and Creator plans users can add up to 15. There is a limit of 500 Contacts per share for all other plans.
To add a new contact simply type in a valid email address and wait for the “add to share” button to appear below the search field. Paid plan users can also search their contacts by typing first names, last names and email addresses. They are able to search by Tag (read about Tagging here) to avoid having to add each recipient individually.
Add Message
All shares allow you to add a short message that will display on the share. If you wish to add more information to your share, we recommend attaching a PDF at the next step.
Add Attachments
You can add attachments (1 for Free Plan, 3 for all paid plans) to your share via the attachment section.
Read more about attachments here.
Review and Send Share
Once you have completed these steps review the overview copy at the bottom of the page to ensure you have the settings set up correctly.
Click “Send” and the audio link will be emailed to your recipients. If you have uploaded audio as part of the share then please note that this step can take a short while to complete.
